That's the description frequently given to a traditional cooked breakfast in Britain and Ireland. From all I've read, current medical research supports this contention. However, B&Bs continue to offer such traditional fare because travellers like it. Like candy in a confectionary shop. And who doesn't want to relax and break the rules when on holiday?
I normally practise a science-based healthy diet, but on an Irish road trip I decided to conduct an experiment: I would begin each day with whatever regular "fry-up" was offered. I don't know if I sustained any long-term arterial damage, but on the outside I knew my belt was a bit tighter.
Table settings ranged from cottage to classic with fine bone china. Have a look and listen.
