Despite a blustery January night, Georgetown public library buzzed with activity. Following a Canadian tradition begun by the Governor of New France, townsfolk came out to a New Year's levee hosted by Mayor Ann Lawlor, accompanied by town councillors and 4 former mayors. This year is special because it also celebrates the 50th Anniversary of Halton Hills. Topping off the evening, knowledgeable local historian Mark Rowe entertained an overflow audience in the spacious auditorium with a recounting of community history that includes some remarkable little-known world achievements. But that's another story.
