During our journey between lighthouses at Cape Saint Mary and Pubnico Harbour, Nova Scotia, we came across a little stone arch bridge built in 1900 by Irish immigrant David Jackson. It fords Hipson’s Brook (aka Hipson Creek, Larkin Creek, Caleb Creek and Trout Creek) beside a less than busy road — ahem, a stone's throw, actually — making it a perfect picnic spot. The bridge looks a lot better than what the road now goes over. It's a shame infrastructure aesthetics are almost universally ignored in favour of whatever is cheapest. Anyway, from rural Nova Scotia here are 12 seconds of gentle babbling brook to soothe your day.
