This time our complimentary CityPASS took us above the city — waaay above: 553.33 meters / 1,815 ft, 5 in, to be exact. OK, not quite, since we weren't on the antennae, but high enough for a spectacular view of Toronto in all directions.

Panoramic view of downtown Toronto at sunset, from the outside section of the CN Tower observation deck.

We found ourselves swept up in an international student group as a long conga line wound around the CN Tower gift shop on the ground floor for a full hour before reaching the elevator. Better than taking the 2,579 steps, though. The minute-long ride to the observation decks deposited us into a scene that reminded me of a large, friendly house party.

The tower's 360 Restaurant houses the world's highest wine cellar holding over 9,000 bottles of wine. On the viewing floors a glass of sky high bubbly is a $14 CAD wallet tap.

The walkable glass floor for those who dare is strong enough to hold 14 Canadian moose, although I'm not certain whether these would be baby, mommy or daddy moose.

The Edgewalk holds the Guinness Record as the Highest External Walk on a Building.

Night or day, the CN Tower remains the tallest free-standing structure in the Western Hemisphere.  Does it really sway in the wind? Yes, it was built that way to be flexible.
