Not for skiing or swimming, but for hiking, driving and sightseeing, you betcha! Sure, the weather can be fickle, especially these days, but in 2025 it was just about perfect.

Our one month May-June driving trip through the southern half of the country began at Frankfurt Airport where we collected a car (with Enterprise Car Rental Germany through booking.com) and drove casually along the Rhine northward to Koblenz on Day One.

Wyndham Garden Koblenz Hotel was our first stop for 2 overnights, with a store-bought breakfast on the balcony in the morning.
