Nova Scotia Lighthousing

Updated: Aug 24, 2022

About 20 km west of Digby on Highway 101 along St. Mary's Bay sits cute as a thimble Gilbert's Cove lighthouse. Restored from original blueprints and run by the local historical society, it's a quiet spot for an outdoor picnic or indoor pot of tea. Note the quilts on the walls are for sale. I was lucky to speak with Lorraine Lovett who was born in this community in 1941 and remembers when oxen were all-important to farmers. How times have changed. The lighthouse is free and open daily from mid-June to late September.
